Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda's message:

Greetings to everyone everywhere.
I am Yasuo Fukuda, the Prime Minister of Japan.

At July's G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit, world leaders will discuss the world economy, environmental concerns, African development and other pressing issues that must be tackled.

Global warming is a huge challenge, and humanity has no time to lose. The international community must urgently strengthen efforts to resolve this issue. In this endeavor, Japan has proposed the Cool Earth Promotion Programme. As chair of the G8 Summit, I will work towards establishing a framework with fair and equitable emissions targets in which all major emitters participate.

I look forward to welcoming world leaders to Toyako, an area rich of natural beauty, and having fruitful discussions that pave the way to a better world.
