On July 17th, former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore delivered a speech in Washington DC in which he challenged the nation to commit to produce 100 percent of its electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years.

Delivering his speeched to a standing-room-only crowd at DAR Constitution Hall, Gore likened his challenge to President Kennedy's challenge of sending an American to the moon in 10 years.
